Fatigued

For the record, before I start, I was supposed to post a blog entry a few days or so ago but it got quite busy around here.

OMG what a year so far! It's been nine weeks in and, honestly, it feels like the year just started. Now I know why past students said that their final years in high school went by so fast.
Here's what has been happening, or has happened at school:

  • Firstly, I've done most of my tests and assignments already, which is great and a whole heap of burden off my back. These past weeks have been tiring, physically and mentally. It was one test or assignment after another; BAM BAM BAM!

  • Secondly, I've been trying to look for a job so I can start earning money. Plus I really don't like staying in the house doing nothing, it annoys me (I annoy myself) and honestly, I hate the fact that I'm wasting time. So I've been looking and applying for random jobs at random places in hopes that I get a job sometime this year. Also, after Year 12, instead of going to schoolies like most people will be, I want to go overseas to either America or Europe. I'm not entirely sure though because I might go to America this year during the holidays. We'll see how we go aye?

  • Thirdly, I am holding a grudge against every single Year 8 kid in my school, so practically the ones in the junior uniform that act stupid, thinking that they're cool, because last Friday, one of them came up and asked to borrow a calculator because she didn't have hers and she had a test. Being the nice, and obviously naive, person that I was, I lent her my calculator but she ran off before I got her name. I waited for her in the hallway where she borrowed my calculator after the period but she never came. That b*tch.
Anyway, I've been trying to track her down this whole week, talking to teachers and some Year 8 kids I know and I've narrowed the search to one Year 8 Math class. I've talked to the teacher, and a few others, and they've said they'll ask their classes and other people if they've seen it.

Seriously, if I don't get it back before the holidays start, I will throw a fit and be the biggest douche to that entire year group. And I will never lend my calculator to anyone in another year group except mine, given that I know them well enough (For example, if I moved to another school, I wouldn't lend anything to anyone).

Also, I've been walking around, trying to take pretty pictures and getting into photography because I want to be a photographer some time in the future, so expect photos soon, mostly nature photos though because it's easier to start with.

So that's been the highlight this last week and a half or so. I hope you guys didn't get bored from reading my little rant about my missing calculator ;)

And as usual, take care, be safe and take it easy!

Two Down, Six To Go

At one point or another, we go to school thinking, "Uggghh school, you suck so much!" Or something along the lines of. It's exactly the same for me, especially at this time of the term.

So far I've talked about Biology and SOR1 (Studies of Religion 1 Unit). Tomorrow I have a 2 Unit Math test to do so I have to do a bit of homework and revision so that I can be confident when taking the test. Believe me, the last thing you want is to be panicking and trying to remember the formula for this and the formula for that because you did it at the start of the year. Been there, done that. I don't want to experience that again, thank you very much.

Later this week, Friday, I've got an English test and have just received my feedback from my teacher today. It's not that it's bad or anything, it's just that I have a lot of ideas and quotes that I've drafted to memorize.

Here are some advice for studying and tests.

  1. If you get a notification for your test, say 2 weeks, beforehand, don't start panicking straight away! Relax!
  2. Revise bit by bit, section by section and not in huge chunks because the brain can't comprehend a whole chunk of information on top of what you are already learning in school.
  3. Study in no longer than 20 - 40 minute sessions. It's not easy to concentrate for that long. If you haven't finished your work in that study session, have another one later!
  4. Set a few little goals for each study session, for example: First five questions in science booklet and spend 20 minutes on English essay. Doing this will let you do that little bit for each subject, not just one, and you will have the satisfaction of achieving your goals. In saying that, don't make your goals too easy!
  5. Prioritise your goals. If you need to finish the Science questions tomorrow and the English essay is due the day after, do the Science questions first.
  6. Have breaks! After your first study session, have a glass of water, go outside or take a walk. This is so that you keep your mind away from work and relax.
Those are just some tips that may help you in your exam blocks or if you're just studying.

Like always, take care and be safe!

Lazy Days

It's been a while. I should have a good reason for not posting for around a week or so (I don't even know), but I don't. And I'm not going to make one up either. Unless you count that I was too busy finishing 4 pics 1 word. That's right I've finished it and I'm just waiting for the new update so I can get back to it. School is also getting to me so I haven't had much time to do anything else.

Basically, I've had a bit of homework and although it's not a lot, the work given often takes quite a bit of time. For example, my Math homework is a sheet of questions, 14 questions only, but quite a few of these take half a page or more to solve and the others are just too complicated to even explain.
There are also essays that need to be written and anyone who knows me would know that English is not my forte. I write decent essays but not to the point where I would be getting full marks in each and every single test. All the other subjects are alright. No major problems.

I have an SOR1 test this Friday and I haven't even gotten my notes organised and ready to go! However there is plenty of time for that. I've got four days to do that so I should be fine, hopefully. Fingers crossed!

Anyway I should probably go on to writing my essay because I'm actually in class write now (see what I did there? eh? eh?). I have an English test in two weeks and I'm only up to the skeleton of my essay so I better get crackin'.

Take care and don't take life too seriously!

Again and again and again and again...

I just wanted to say that I finished my Bio report on Saturday in 5 hours and I'm so glad it's over and done with. Big smiles from me :)

So, as usual Monday morning, I get up cranky because it's Monday and it's the start of the week. But then again if the week started on Tuesday, then everyone would hate Tuesday, right?
Anyway, so I went to school, went to homeroom to do the roll call and get help with a new app I've been splaying non-stop called "4 pics 1 word".
If you don't know what it is, basically it's an app where it gives you 4 pictures that are somehow linked to one another with one word. I definitely recommend this because this game is just SO ADDICTIVE. Like you have no idea. I'm up to level 379, I kid you not. I am so not obsessed at all.

Yeah I'm stuck on this one... It's so annoying when it takes me ages to figure out and when I show it to someone else, they figure it out straight away.

But enough of that. What I wanted to talk about is timetables. Just like any other high school, I received a timetable at the start of the year. However, unlike other schools, I got another one about a week later I got the first one. Apparently there were a few mistakes with rooms. A week later, I receive another one, this time in green paper. Pretty, right? So that's three timetables I've gotten since school started. Today during homeroom I get ANOTHER ONE. And this one in orange paper. That's four.

These are my timetables, 6 weeks into school. I think they only wanted to change the colour of the timetable or something. I don't know. Any suggestions why???

The reason it bugs me is because there are NO changes in my timetable. Zero. Nada. Zilch. It just annoys me that they would waste so much paper printing timetables over and over again. That's a waste of paper, money and trees! Trees need love too.

Anyway guys, take care and be safe.

Friday 1 March 2013

It's packing on...

Okay, so the weather has been PMS-ing recently, from boiling hot to cold, windy and rain, rain, rain everywhere. It's been pretty crazy but, understandable considering that it's now March, the end of summer, and is now autumn (some of you refer to it as "fall").

Just a couple of shots on the way to school. Yep. I was walking in the rain without an umbrella because my laptop was too heavy to put in my bag so I had to carry it.

So this weekend will be busy. After this post, I will be taking on the homework that has been building up for the past five weeks.
In the first week or so, I had minimal to no homework, obviously, because it was just the start of school. Now, after looking at my school diary, there is a significant change from no notes and reminders to a whole page of it.

Week One - My laptop had to be taken t repairs like I said from one of my previous posts.

Week Two - Minimal homework and just some things I needed to buy for a couple of subjects.

Week Three - My laptop had to go to repairs again and homework is starting to build.

Week Four - Yep that's a math equation right there because I wasn't bothered to  get a piece of paper. LAZY ME :)

Week Five - This week. This is mostly notes for my report from my Biology excursion, things I need to include because it's due this Thursday and I haven't started yet.

That's basically an overview of school so far. The homework load is pretty different, more, compared to previous years where the pages ended up having graffiti all over because it was empty.

Anyway, I better get cracking on my Biology report and also start taking notes in preparation to my Studies Of Religion I (SOR1) test coming up in about two weeks. You can say that I might be preparing too early but I seriously need to get on top of work so I don't fall behind like I did for not being at school for two days straight (volleyball and day off - sprained ankle from volleyball).

Okay I'm gonna go now. Take care and be safe.
